Corylus Purpurea, the purple hazel is a superb tree which bears large, purple tinted catkins in late winter - early spring and are followed by edible nuts in the autumn. Bears rich purple, heart shaped leaves. Makes an excellent hedging plant or grown as a specimen tree within a garden. Plant in full sun or semi shade position, will tolerate most soil types. Will grow to approx 10ft+ but can be pruned to desired height. Can also be kept as bush in a large patio pot.
