We’re delighted to announce Direct Plants were honoured at a recent glittering awards ceremony in London. At the 2019 eBay business awards held at the Ham Yard Hotel in October we were named as winners of the Specialist Seller category. Shaun and Karina O’Brien represented Direct Plants at the event and received their award from former Dragons Den star Jenny Campbell.

With over 300,000 small and medium businesses trading on eBay to be picked as one of the eleven award winners was a special moment for everyone involved with the business. 

Shaun said: "It was a proud moment to receive this national award. You can go into any household and say the word eBay, and it's something which everyone recognises.

"The awards ceremony really did capture the moment for small businesses, which eBay genuinely supports and cares for.

“It’s hard to believe how far we have come since we started selling on eBay. It’s been a long road to get to where we are today, but who could have predicted that our business which started in a living room would turn into a full-scale mail-order company? Winning this award is the icing on the cake.”

Speaking at the award ceremony Jenny Campbell said: “I have no doubt that all eleven of tonight’s award winners will be the bright sparks of British business for years to come. 

"Each and every eBay entrepreneur has shown bags of resilience, determination and creativity. Their future is certainly bright and I can’t wait to see how their businesses grow and what they’ll do next.”

Direct Plants started trading on eBay in 2006 and we’ve come a long way since starting out in our front room packing plants to take to the local post office. We now sell our plants, hedging, trees and polytunnels on multiple channels including our new website and deliver over 500 orders a week to customers throughout the country.
