(Prunus ‘Pissardii Nigra’ – Ornamental, approx. 15–20ft / 4.5–6m at maturity)
In spring, the tree produces clusters of delicate pale pink to white flowers, contrasting beautifully with the dark foliage.
Fresh purple-green foliage develops after flowering, creating a rich, textured canopy through summer.
In autumn, leaves turn warm bronze and burgundy shades, adding seasonal colour.
The tree forms a compact, rounded crown with arching branches, offering ornamental interest without overwhelming the garden.
Fully hardy and adaptable, this variety thrives in most soil types and prefers a sunny, sheltered position to achieve the best foliage colour and flowering display. Planting directly into the ground allows it to develop its full ornamental character.
