Carefully grown and selected at our award-winning family nursery in Norfolk, this variety is admired for its stunning double pink to white spring blossom that gradually fades to rich pink as the flowers mature.
With its upright, spreading habit and elegantly arching branches, ‘Shirofugen’ is perfect for feature planting, garden avenues, or mixed ornamental schemes, bringing seasonal colour, structure, and refinement to any garden.
(Prunus ‘Shirofugen’ – Ornamental, approx. 25–30ft / 7.5–9m at maturity)
In mid to late spring, the tree produces large, fragrant, double flowers, initially white, gradually deepening to soft pink as the season progresses.
The emerging fresh green foliage complements the flowers and provides summer interest.
In autumn, the leaves turn shades of yellow, orange, and crimson, adding seasonal colour and charm.
The tree forms a broad, spreading crown with elegant, arching branches, offering structure without overwhelming surrounding plants.
Fully hardy and adaptable, this variety thrives in most soil types and performs best in a sunny, sheltered position. Planting directly in the ground allows the tree to develop its natural ornamental shape and full beauty.

Planting steps:
Soak roots in water for 1–2 hours before planting
Dig a hole wide enough to allow the roots to spread naturally
Position the tree so the root flare sits at soil level
Backfill, firm gently, and water thoroughly
Stake during establishment, especially in exposed locations
Mulch around the base (keeping clear of the trunk) to retain moisture
Water regularly throughout the first growing season
Once established, Prunus ‘Shirofugen’ is low-maintenance and exceptionally rewarding, delivering:
