An evergreen Oak tree, that is originally from the Mediterranean but has naturalized in the UK, is a wonderful addition to the garden with its all year round glossy, dark-green foliage similar to that of a holly tree. Yellow Catkins are born in abundance in Early Spring followed by acorns that are green when young maturing to dark-red brown. It makes a great tree for windbreaks and hedging and is perfect for coastal settings. It will tolerate most soil types.
