Create a full instant-effect evergreen hedge with this premium pallet deal of 10 XXL Thuja plicata ‘Gelderland’ Western Red Cedar trees, supplied approximately 5–6ft tall and individually established in substantial 10 litre pots.
These are mature, nursery-grown hedging trees with excellent height, strong root systems and dense evergreen foliage already developed. They are ideal where immediate privacy and an established appearance are required, without waiting years for smaller hedging plants to mature.
Western Red Cedar is a superb alternative to Leylandii, combining vigorous growth with lush, rich-green foliage and a naturally smart appearance. It also responds particularly well to trimming, making it an excellent long-term choice for a substantial evergreen boundary.
• 10 XXL established Western Red Cedar trees
• Impressive 5–6ft supplied height
• Substantial 10 litre pots and established root systems
• Ideal for a full instant-effect hedge
• Dense evergreen foliage for year-round screening
• Excellent for immediate privacy and boundaries

• Responds extremely well to regular trimming
• Can regenerate from older wood better than Leylandii
• Premium nursery-direct pallet value
At this substantial XXL size, we recommend approximately 1 tree per metre to create a full instant-effect hedge.
A pallet of 10 trees can therefore create approximately 10 metres of impressive evergreen screening, providing excellent height and coverage immediately after planting.
This spacing allows the established plants to form a strong continuous boundary while providing sufficient room for continued growth and development.
For an especially deep or substantial screen, the trees can also be planted in a staggered or double-line formation where sufficient space is available.
• Full instant-effect evergreen hedging
• Immediate garden privacy
• Screening neighbouring properties
• Overlooked gardens and boundaries
• Covering fences and unwanted views
• Replacing an established hedge
• Smart formal boundaries
• Large gardens and estates
• Professional landscaping projects
• Evergreen screens and windbreaks
Prepare the planting area thoroughly, removing weeds and loosening compacted soil. Dig generous planting holes and position each tree at approximately the same soil level as it has been growing in its pot. Firm carefully and water thoroughly immediately after planting.
With substantial trees of this size, staking is recommended where required, particularly in exposed or windy positions, to prevent movement of the root ball during establishment.
Regular watering is essential throughout the first growing season. Large evergreen trees carry considerable foliage and should not be allowed to dry out during warm, dry or windy conditions.
Once established, regular trimming will encourage the plants to knit together and maintain a dense, uniform and attractive evergreen screen.
